SRD is a veteran-owned small business with 23 employees. Formed in 1993, SRD started by developing solid-state sensor technology for chemical detection applications for the Office of Naval Research (ONR). The research expanded to encompass multiple biological and chemical detection technologies, including polymer-coated surface acoustic wave devices, semiconducting metal oxide sensors, bacterial imprinted polymers, surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy, and advanced signal processing systems.
SRD’s research teams include experts in electrical, mechanical, computer, and sensor engineers, along with a scientific staff of polymer, metal oxide, physical, and analytical chemists. Our staff of senior scientists holds seven PhDs and expertise in sensor development, gas chromatography, solid-state microelectronics, organic & polymer chemistry, signal processing, control theory, and artificial intelligence. Participating in over 20 federally funded research programs, SRD has developed detection systems for several US Government agencies, including ONR, HSARPA, and NETL.
SRD is a member of the NBC Industry Group; an association of over 140 companies and organizations supporting nuclear, biological, and chemical defense.
